I used to use Winamp to listen to music on my computer, but I don’t anymore. The one thing I miss about that program is the feature “stop play after this song.” You could press stop but then the song would finish instead of getting cut off in the middle.
The reason I mention it is because there’s something wrong with me and I don’t like to stop listening to music. For example, I’ll stay in front of my computer or in a room so I can listen to a song that I like, and I find something to do until it’s over. But then the next song starts because I’m distracted, and I keep on doing something until that one is over. And it keeps on happening. I’ve been listening to the new Arcade Fire CD and I’ve been stuck in front of my computer a lot.
When I was visiting my parent’s house for Christmas the Capitalist Youth recorded a couple songs to celebrate Zach’s birthday. It was pretty funny because we didn’t have any equipment. My and Eric’s equipment were in other states. So we had one microphone that Zach brought over and my old 4 track tape recorder. We recorded on a “creepy halloween sounds” cassette that I found in a drawer upstairs. We also didn’t have our instruments with us so we had to use whatever I left in the basement. Listen to the songs here.
I am pretty excited. Soul-Junk has a new CD coming out / out. 1959. You can order it from the Quiver Society. Also the Soul-Junk website has been updated. I didn’t really like the last one because I couldn’t figure out how to find anything. But it was very creative.
Hey, so there’s a new Camp Wrath Songbook on the site, but what’s even more exciting is I put up a new song. Go here to listen to “At the campfire pt. 2”. I originally recorded it for a special topics class I took on Kierkegaard. It’s ostensibly a reaction to Kierkegaard’s works, but it’s also an excuse to work on music. It was good because I had a deadline. Otherwise I don’t tend to get things done.
The mix is a little rough, and I’m hoping to post a better one later. I’m very happy with the song, though.
Dear Diary, this is pretty cool.
Hey, the new Christmas Singers CD, “Christmas” is up on the website now. Also, if you’d like you can listen to Joey and Adam arguing. It’s probably funnier if you know them.
I suppose this is the best introduction to Stars I could get. I’m probably going to have to pick up their CD somewhere. I found the video at videos.antville.org.
I just put these songs up at thecapitalistyouth.com. Check them out. It’s a CD called Thanksgiving by The Christmas Singers.
I came across this site today and I liked it. I particularly liked the holiday mixtape. You should check it out. All good songs.
I think that Desaparecidos: Read Music / Speak Spanish is really articulate about what happens with a lot of people in the American middle class. I wonder sometimes how well known albums get that way. In my mind a good CD will just work its way to the top based on its merit. But then I realize that in the real world things like placement and money matter.
So I’m doing my part. If you haven’t listened to this you should. It’s a side project from Conor Oberst. (Bright Eyes) It came out in 2002.
